BLENDED FAMILY GIVEAWAY

Blended Family Giveaway Fam Fusion

In honor of the release of Hey, Who’s in my House? Stepkids Speak Out by Erin Mantz, I am having a giveaway! There is a little video -kind of cheesy- about what the prize entails. There is also more information below.

One in three Americans live in a stepfamily, and more than half of Americans will live in a stepfamily at some point in their lives, according to the Stepfamily Foundation. Much has been written about the stereotypes and sometime realities of stepparent struggles and the “wicked stepmother,” but an integral part of all these changing families hasn’t been truly addressed, until this anthology: The stepkids themselves.

My first published essay, Happy Endings, is in this amazing anthology, Hey, Who’s In My House? Stepkids Speak Out by Erin Mantz. The first book telling the story of blended family life from the perspective of the stepkids. It revisits the rocky relationship with my own stepmom, one of the main reasons I am so determined to co-parent with my two daughter’s stepmom, and my own idea of a happy ending. The book is available on Amazon for Kindle now and in print To order the print copy: Barnes & Noble.

The second book I will be giving away in this package is, Blended: Writers on the Stepfamily Experience edited by Samantha Waltz. I know one of the writers in this anthology, the talented Kerry Cohen.

Blended explores stepfamilies from the inside out through the perspectives of thirty writers who know what it’s like first hand. Sometimes funny, often poignant, and always deeply personal, the stories in Blended capture the essence of stepfamilies in all of their weird and wonderful varieties. The journeys range from the first encounters between new step-relatives, to marriages, honeymoons, daily experiences, and divorces.

The photograph below was actually taken across the street from my ex-husband’s house. Nestled behind a hill, surrounded by a sea of wildflowers is a paint-chipped blue and white, abandoned house. As pictured in the beginning of this post, and in the video, it is a metallic 5×7 metallic print, in a vintage-looking frame. Some of other work is on my other site, Abandoned, Forgotten, & Decayed.
